Our home away from home

We did tent camping for a long time, too long. We thought we had it made when we upgraded to a double-high air mattress. But after too many mornings waking up on a deflated mattress with rocks indented into our backs, we realized it was time to really upgrade.

We started our search for a good first-time RV. We didn’t want anything too big, too heavy or too expensive. It didn’t take long to realize a tent trailer was a perfect fit for our family. A tent trailer is an ideal RV for a family of our size who are looking to camp – but not looking to bring the entire house with us.

We still wanted to experience authentic camping. We wanted to be able to see the stars, feel the wind at night and feel as though we were still somewhat “roughing it”.

So when we found a 1997 Coleman Sea Pine camper listed for $1,500 on Craigslist, we jumped on it. We got lucky. The camper needed some aesthetic updates – nothing major, and the owner was looking to get rid of it and move on, so we really got a bargain of a tent trailer.

After replacing the flooring, adding a little paint, changing out the hardware and replacing the curtains, I’d say we have a pretty sweet little trailer on our hands.

I guess it’s time we give her a name…any suggestions??
