Why Create a Blog?

And does anybody really care?

I decided to start a blog for my own selfish reasons. Our family enjoys spending a lot of time in the outdoors and we are always planning our next adventure – it just made sense to me to have one place to keep all those memories rather than scrolling back through past Instagram posts or trying to find a specific picture in the hundreds on my phone (no thanks!).

But then I got to thinking…

  • What if this blog could also provide insight to other adventurers/families who may be curious about a certain location?

Now, we don’t have a huge fancy rig (to see our “rig” click here) and we aren’t hardcore outdoor survivalists by any measure. However, I feel our family represents the hundreds of thousands of families who enjoy getting outdoors and exposing their children to nature, those weekend warriors who work their butts off during the week and look to unwind and let loose in nature on the weekends!

How many of us have looked at those “van life” Instagram pages grudgingly thinking to ourselves, “Why are they able to travel full time and I can’t?”. Me, me, me! However, I’ve come to realize over the past couple years that that lifestyle just isn’t in the cards for us….at least not right now.

So the next best option for our family is planning our escapes, when we can. We camp locally regularly and we’ve taken a multitude of family trips exploring the wonderful west of the United States and all that it has to offer. And we have a few big trips lined up soon that we are absolutely ecstatic about.

Hint hint..
  • So…what can you expect to see in the future from this site?

We will be posting the ins and outs of local campgrounds, the good, the bad and the ugly. And trust me, there are some ugly ones. We will give a local’s viewpoint on the various destinations San Diego has to offer, including where to eat, where to camp, what you need, etc……Additionally, we will be providing information and tips on non-San Diego locations.

So if you would like an insiders view on camping in Southern California, Eastern Sierra…or some other cool new spots, keep up with us! Follow us on social media or send us a message!

Love, The Harringtons
